Example design
Ash & Rowan
Estate agent. An example design for an independent agent that sells the instruction, not a wall of other people's portals.
Problem
An independent agent is competing with portals and with larger branches. The website behaves like a thinner version of a portal, and the valuation enquiry is easy to miss.
What was wrong
Listings dominate every page. There is no clear account of how a sale is run, who answers the phone, or what a valuation meeting includes. The mobile page is a shrunk desktop.
Strategy
Treat the instruction as the product. Listings remain, but the first job of the site is to explain the local knowledge and book a valuation. Buyers get a clear search. Sellers get a process.
Design
Two routes from the first screen: value my home, and look at homes. Typography does more work than decoration. Property rows are simple and readable, with room for the agent's own photography in a real build.
Development
A valuation form that asks for the address, the timeframe and whether the home is on the market. Listing pages that stay fast. A structure that can later take a feed without becoming the whole experience.
SEO
Area pages only where the agent genuinely works, written as useful local notes rather than repeated town names. Valuation and landlord pages with their own titles. No fabricated market statistics.
Result
The example puts the valuation and the way a sale is handled in front of the listing grid.
